I was born in the 90s, saw transition from dumb phones to smart phones and I was still a young teenager when Facebook appeared in my social circles. In fact, I was probably one of the first people in my surroundings who registered to the site. Youtube at that time was still just a site full of funny videos, music clips and trashy recordings from dumb phones and cameras. At those times, I wouldn't guess that this video streaming site would soon be the platform for professional podcasts, minidocuments, let's plays and that for some of the "content creators", this platform would happen to be their primary source of income.

It's not that long ago when I finished a book with title "Digital Minimalism" from Cal Newport. The book is organized in pretty much similar way as other self-help books: it provides an intriguing mix of facts, statistics and personal stories. It reads really well, and gave a good insights into how technology evolved in previous few decades. During reading, I realized that it's perfect book for me. I have problems with getting from the Youtube, once I get hooked to its recommendation engine. And yet I am not the most typical user, as I usually consume social media from my laptop and not the phone. Also I rarely use sites like Instagram or Tik Tok.
